How to Install Your Custom Layer Sheer Blinds

Layer sheer blinds are a stylish and functional window treatment that let you adjust both natural light and privacy with ease. The best part? Installing them yourself is simple and requires just a few basic tools. Follow this step-by-step guide to set up your custom blinds like a pro.

Tools You’ll Need

  • Drill and drill bits
  • Screwdriver
  • Measuring tape
  • Pencil
  • Screws and brackets (included with your blinds)
  • Level
  • Step stool (for higher windows)

💡 Tip: Lay out all hardware before starting to make installation faster and easier.

Step 1: Unpack and Check the Parts

Open the package carefully and confirm you have all the components:

  • Dual sheer blind with headrail
  • Mounting brackets
  • Screws
  • Installation guide

Check for any shipping damage before you begin.

Step 2: Choose Your Mounting Style

You can install your blinds in two ways:

  • Inside Mount – Fits inside the window frame for a clean, built-in look. Requires a window frame depth of at least 3 1/8inches.
  • Outside Mount – Installed on the wall or above the window frame. Perfect for shallow windows or when you want maximum coverage.

💡 Tip: Choose outside mount if you want better light blocking and enhanced privacy.

Step 3: Mark the Bracket Positions

  • Hold the bracket in the desired position.
  • Use a pencil to mark the screw holes.
  • For inside mount, mark inside the top of the window frame.
  • For outside mount, mark on the wall or molding above the window.

Use a level to ensure both sides are even.

Step 4: Install the Brackets

  • Drill small pilot holes where you made your marks.
  • Secure the brackets with screws.
  • Double-check that the brackets are firmly in place.

Step 5: Attach the Headrail

  • Align the headrail with the installed brackets.
  • Snap the headrail into place.
  • Ensure it clicks or locks securely.

Step 6: Test the Blinds

  • Gently pull to make sure the blinds raise and lower smoothly.
  • Check that the sheer and opaque layers overlap and adjust properly.

Step 7: Final Touches

  • Adjust the chain length or fabric alignment if necessary.
  • Wipe down the blinds with a soft cloth to remove dust.
  • Step back and admire your work!

Enjoy Your New Look

That’s it — you’ve successfully installed your custom dual sheer window coverings!

Not only do they add a sleek, modern touch to your space, but they also give you complete control over natural light and privacy. Best of all? You did it yourself with confidence.
