How to Measure for Custom Bamboo Woven Shades (Easy Guide for Beginners)

Custom bamboo blinds are a wonderful way to elevate your home's aesthetic and bring in a natural vibe. But for a perfect fit, accurate measurement is essential. Whether you’re going for an inside mount (shades installed inside the window frame) or an outside mount (shades covering the window frame from the outside), this guide will walk you through every step.

Step 1: Choose Your Mount Type

1. Inside Mount

• Shades are installed inside the window frame
• Sleek and clean look
• Requires a minimum window depth of 2 3/4 inches

2. Outside Mount

• Shades are mounted outside the window frame
• Enhances light blocking and privacy
• Ideal for shallow frames or full coverage—no depth required

Measure for French Doors

You’ll need three key dimensions:

1. Width (A): Distance from the left edge of the glass to the right edge.
2. Height (B): Distance from the top of the glass to the bottom.
3. Top Clearance (C): Distance from the top of the door to the top of the glass.

Note: The method is similar to window measurements—just remember to be precise. For French doors, only outside mount is applicable. The distance from the top of the door to the top of the glass (Measurement C) must be at least 1 inch to allow enough space for drilling and securely fixing the sheer shades with screws.

Order Sizes:

• Order Width = Glass Width (left to right of the panel)
• Order Height = Glass Height + 6"

Round the height up to the nearest 1/8" if it includes 1/16" or 1/32" increments

Example:

• Glass Width = 35 11/16" → Order Width = 35 3/4"
• Glass Height = 75 11/16" → Order Height = 81 3/4"

No extra deductions needed — this ensures a perfect fit and a polished look.

• Measure each window individually—don’t assume they are all the same size
• A metal measuring tape is more accurate than a soft one
• Never use 1/16 or 1/32 inches for your order—always round to the nearest 1/8 inch
