How to Measure Your Honeycomb Shades Accurately: Inside Mount vs. Outside Mount

How to Measure Your Honeycomb Shades Accurately: Inside Mount vs. Outside Mount

Measuring is actually very simple — let us show you how!

Before You Start: Make Sure Your Window Meets These Conditions

  • ✅ The inside of the window frame is flat and free of protrusions
  • ✅ The window frame depth is at least 2 1/2 inches and has a square structure
(If not, please contact MorraHome support for help measuring irregular windows)

📏 Inside Mount: How to Measure

To Measure Width:

  1. Measure the inside width at the top, middle, and bottom of the window frame
  2. Record the smallest measurement
  3. If the result includes 1/16" or 1/32", round down to the nearest 1/8"
    Example: 35 11/16" → 35 5/8"
  4. This final value is your order width.

To Measure Height:

  1. Measure vertically on the left, middle, and right of the window
  2. Record the largest measurement
  3. If the result includes 1/16" or 1/32", round up to the nearest 1/8"
    Example: 35 11/16" → 35 3/4"
  4. This final value is your order height.

Note: No need to make your own deductions — our factory will handle the fitting adjustments to ensure a perfect inside mount.

📏 Outside Mount: How to Measure

To Measure Width:

  1. Measure the width of the window opening at the top, middle, and bottom
  2. Record the largest measurement
  3. Add at least 4 inches (we recommend 4–6 inches for better blackout)
  4. This final value is your order width.

To Measure Height:

  1. Measure from the top of the mounting location to the window sill (left, middle, and right)
  2. Record the largest measurement
  3. Add at least 4 inches for full coverage
  4. This final value is your order height.
